Nature-Informed Therapy
For as long as I can remember, engagement in the natural world has always been a source for providing a sense of connection, belonging and adventure.
After 18 years of practicing psychotherapy in traditional health care settings, I have expanded my offerings to include nature-based therapy. I’ve had a lifelong appreciation of the outdoors and my presence in nature often leaves me feeling supported, nurtured, and grounded. For this reason, I decided to expand my practice to include healing and restorative practices in natural settings. Trained and certified in Nature Informed Therapy from the Nature Informed Therapy Center in Maryland, I am now offering customized individual nature-informed therapy sessions and group Ecotherapy workshops.

Using Nature to Reconnect to Our Inner Selves
Indigenous people have long understood the sacred and inseparable interconnection between humans and the natural world. There is growing research that confirms what has always been “known” by many, that we are part of nature and our nervous systems are genetically cued in to aspects of nature that inform, soothe, and heal our nervous system.
I understand that treating the human spirit belongs in therapy as well. In my practice, I utilize creative approaches that foster hope, belonging, and a sense of meaning all of which is paramount in health and well-being. Nature informed approach is one way that spirituality can be brought into a therapy session. Modern life has caused us to feel disconnected as we spend less and less time in natural settings. Connecting to nature can fulfill this unmet need that resonates with both our biology and spirit.
Nature as Co-Therapist
Nature as Co-Therapist: Healing in Partnership with the Natural World
In this therapeutic approach, the healing power of nature is intentionally integrated with professional support from a trained therapist. By stepping outdoors, we invite nature not just as a backdrop, but as a co-therapist — a mirror, a mentor, and medicine for body, mind, and spirit.
Through mindful engagement with the natural environment, we foster a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us. Nature gently encourages presence, offering a grounded space to explore emotions, process trauma, and reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and overwhelm.
Blending evidence-based theoretical approaches with nature’s wisdom, this therapy supports:
Emotional regulation and resilience
Relief from anxiety and depressive symptoms
Trauma healing through somatic awareness and groundedness
Spiritual connection and personal growth
Processing grief and loss
Enhanced self-awareness through nature as metaphor and mirror
Sessions may take place outdoors — walking, sitting, observing — or incorporate natural elements indoors. This therapeutic alliance between therapist, client, and nature offers a unique path to healing, where growth feels organic and deeply rooted.
